Welcome to New Tribe and Tree Climbing Northwest!     About Us    How We Work

NEW TRIBE is dedicated to meeting the tree climbing

equipment and training needs of recreational tree climbers

These are some of the same needs that working arborists and forest research scientists share. We are proud to have many

good friends in all three groups. Every tree climber is important to us. Our purpose is to provide the highest quality

tree climbing gear, to assist you to choose yours and use it safely, and to conduct our business with integrity.

How about the TREES?

A friend recently wrote to New Tribe pointing out that our website doesn't say anything about our values concerning the welfare of trees and forests.  In our 26 years working with tree climbers, we find a strong vein of respect and love for trees and all nature. With that spirit, and good protective practices, we are building a culture for tree climbing that keeps the trees safe.

new! RESCUE WORKSHOP Portland, Oregon

JULY 23-25, 2010

If you want to share tree climbing with family and friends but hesitate because of the “what-ifs,” this workshop is for you. We developed this DRT Rescue Workshop in response to requests from several students who want to be prepared to rescue their loved ones should the need arise.

Prior to this workshop, we offered rescue training only as part of our Facilitator Program. We realize that not everyone wants to become a professional facilitator, but rescue training is of value to all. For all the details, click HERE.

In the high-altitude mountains of Puebla, Mexico, the outdoor adventure resort Altikamp is adding tree climbing to their schedule of guest activities.

The dream of organizers Fernando Alvarez, Felipe Alvarez and Juan Pablo Dominguez is to offer forest adventures to people of all ages from the nearby urban center of Mexico City. In this crowded city full of pollution and noise, people can live for years without a taste of fresh air or a view into the distance. Altikamp provides a chance for their guests to revel in nature's wonders, sometimes for the first time in their lives.

Tree Climbing Northwest and New Tribe are delighted to help Altikamp make their dream a reality. Click HERE to see images from their recent classes with Tim Kovar, who traveled to Mexico to train them.
